Tomb Raider: Underworld Special (Limited) Edition

I am getting excited about Tomb Raider: Underworld coming out on the PS3. Due to it’s high definition graphics and exploring old ruins and artifacts this game should not be missed by any gamer. For PS3 gamers only we can get our hands on the special edition from game.co.uk. Not known what the special edition includes but I would think you would get a bonus CD along with an art book or even a music soundtrack.

The special edition will cost £49.99, so not a bad price for a special edition game. Tomb Raider: Underworld is due out for release on the 24/10/08 so only a month away!

Resident Evil Available On Blu-ray In Europe

For all movie fans, Resident Evil was released on Blu-ray in Europe this week which meant we could watch one of the best survival horror movies currently available in high definition! This film has everything you expect in a Resident Evil game including zombies, dogs and even the infamous licker. Not obvious in everybody’s eye but the film is set before the first resident evil game and shows how the outbreak of the t-virus was started. Like any other horror film there will be places where you’ll probably jump as well as a bit of gore!

Upcoming PS3 Games With Trophy Support

Quite a good couple of months ahead and with a lot of good games coming out in the next two months, I thought I mention which games support trophies so we can prove to other gamers that we are hardcore gamers!

LittleBigPlanet

First of all, LittleBigPlanet. This game will be released on the 24th October and you will be able to earn 48 trophies with obviously one being a ‘Platinum’ for earning all the others. LittleBigPlanet is a game where you can create your own levels and even create your own sack boy or sack girl to play the level with. Levels you create can be shared to other players and already in ‘Beta’ testing others have created levels similar to Mario style!

FarCry 2

Although I don’t know much about FarCry 2 I can say that this game will have 49 trophies to obtain so quite a lot in my opinion! Like in every blu-ray game, a platinum trophy is awarded when you obtain every other trophy. This game is released on the 24th October which is the same day as LittleBigPlanet so it’s up to you if you want to purchase both games!

Resistance 2

I was quite happy when this game was confirmed for trophy support and with the game being developed by Insomniac, it couldn’t be better. Resistance 2 is a first person shooter and the game will have 30 trophies plus 9 hidden to obtain which is also quite a lot to earn (a good thing). Now all we need is a Ratchet and Clank update for trophies!!

BioShock

Bioshock will be released on the 17th October and you can earn up to 54 trophies in this title which is quite a lot! BioShock is a first person shooter where the story is based under water in a city called ‘Rapture’. You have to survive from mutated beings and also robot drones to help uncover the story. The game is ‘Survival Horror’ and also ‘Role-playing’ and therefore unique to other games out at the moment.

These are the main games that will support trophies in October and I’m sure there will be a lot of you out there trying to earn every trophy for that particular game. By the way Burnout Paradise has been recently patched to support trophies but for those who have already completed the game will have to start a new game to take advantage of the trophies.

Just Thinking….October Is A Good Month For PS3!!

With so many games being released this month and namely one I’m really looking forward to, I thought I recap on what games are going to be released very soon!

LittleBigPlanet - 24.10.08

I thought I start with this game as it’s the one myself and probably the whole world wants to play right now, well actually there are some playing it right now for those lucky enough to get a beta key. To be honest I didn’t get one but I’m never quick enough! So this game is where you can create your own levels and your own sack boy or sack girl to play it in. You can either create your own levels, play someone else’s who have uploaded it online or even play the ‘60′ levels provided on the disc. I can’t explain the game very well so I recommend looking at the game trailers for it!

BioShock - 17.10.08

The game that has already been on two other systems. This game has proven to be very good mainly due to a different styled First Person Shooter where your plane gets shot down leaving you in an underground city called ‘Rapture’. I haven’t played this game but it looked amazing but I have heard there are a few scary moments in the game so be warned! The game also has trophy support on launch which is an added bonus!

Fallout 3 - 31.10.08

This is also really popular and the company who created this is also responsible for ‘Oblivion’. This game looks quite good by looking at the in-game trailers. You can target sections of your enemy in this game, killing in brutal ways! This game has been worked on for over four years and obviously bound to be good.

Other good games coming in October:

Saints Row 2 - 17.10.08

Golden Axe: Beast Rider - 17.10.08

Lego Batman: The Video Game - 10.10.08

Far Cry 2 - 24.10.08

Gran Turismo Prologue Update Brings New Cars

Excellent news for people owning Gran Turismo Prologue as a new patch is available which gives us three new cars into the mix. The three new cars you get after you have installed the update are: GT by Citroen (a concept car), Ferrari California and the Lotus Evora!

All of these cars look absolutely amazing and my favourite of the three is obviously the ‘GT by Citroen’ car and it has a slick white design which anyone would love to have in their garage!

This patch is a free update so all you have to is load the game and it will detect the new update automatically but be warned as after the update you will lose your ranking times, time trial times etc. When I heard of the update I thought to myself ‘any trophies’! I found out after installing the update there were no trophies but never mind we get three good looking cars to play with, once you have unlocked them of course!

Talking about trophies I don’t believe the prologue version will have them probably because it’s the shorter game of GT5, but who knows!

GTA IV Is To Get A Trophy Patch Soon

Not known when but GTA IV will be getting a patch so we can enjoy earning trophies for one of the best games out there at the moment.

This will be good and bad news for gamers as there will be gamers that will complain because they may have to earn the trophies again meaning they will have to start a new game or others where they want to replay the game and add to their existing collection. I personally welcome trophies to the game because I feel they give a game the re-playability factor. This trophy patch may tempt me to complete the ‘whole’ game as well as when I first played it I thought to myself ‘Do I really need to these side quests when there are other games out there that I want to play as well’. Most people will probably think about the ‘kill 300 pigeons’ side quest as it was the most annoying out of them all, well in fact would probably take you a few months without a guide!

October and November is going to be the best months of gaming and if we get the trophy update for GTA IV in these two months I think everyone will be very happy!

What games do we have to wait for now to get a trophy update? I think we should contact the one’s behind Oblivion and Ratchet and Clank! These two games would be two of the best games to support trophies and also other games such as Star Wars: TFU and also Assassin’s Creed as I would love to replay every one of these games again!

First Level To Create On LittleBigPlanet?

I am getting really excited about this upcoming game and as I can see there are loads out there trying to nab those LittleBigPlanet beta keys. There are some out there that have created a level looking like Mario and also others out there trying to replicate other games as well.

This is a game where you can basically make our own levels and sack boy to play it with. I’m not sure what I’m going to create when I get my hands on this game but once I do I will let you know and because we can share our levels I will probably upload the level as well!

As this is a Playstation 3 exclusive I am very happy as I must admit that I am a PS3 fanboy! Like I said I’m not sure what I will do in my first level, probably just try out the many objects the game provides and use my imagination to create a stunning looking level at the same time. As we can customize pretty much anything I would go for the design of the sack boy first and then probably customize the levels after. I am also tempted to put a bit of Rayman style in the level but I’m not sure, just depends I suppose!

I am sure there will be quite a lot of creative people out there and I hope to play some of these levels! Once I create mine I will definitely upload them for others to play.

Trophy Patch Update For Burnout Paradise (PS3)

On Thursday a patch was released for ‘Burnout Paradise’ so it could support trophies and the first question was: Are they retroactive? Unfortunately we will have to play the game again to unlock the trophies as it tells the Playstation that you have earned them and you haven’t downloaded or retrieved the game save elsewhere.

As this game can take a while to complete there was obviously some out there that didn’t agree with the system. All I can say is to get over it because many developers simply didn’t have the time to integrate the trophies at the development stage of the game so therefore they would have to be released as a downloadable update. Even newer games such as Fallout 3 won’t have trophies at launch probably because they have been developing the game for over 4 years and they are now getting ready to release the game.

I don’t mind too much that older games will have trophy support in the future as it will give you an excuse to play or ‘better’ the game. I am also thinking of those tedius 100+ hours on GTA IV and Oblivion if they decide to release an update for these games.

I think releasing a trophy update for Burnout Paradise is a good thing just because it’s an easy way for developer’s to make a profit out of the game again just for those players thinking ‘Should I buy the game for the trophies?’ This is what it’s going to be like for other titles such as Ratchet and Clank and GTA IV. I do hope there will be support for older games which can easily integrate a trophy patch in their game as I believe it will give  a ‘Re-playability’ factor as well.
